Hybridoma Cells Available: No
Antigen Species: Bovine
Depositor: Schnaar, R.L.
Isotype: MIgG1
Depositors Institution: Johns Hopkins School of Medicine
Host Species: mouse
Depositors Notes: GD1a-1 recognizes all vertebrate species. Paraformaldehyde fixation works well for immnostaining; avoid most detergents and organic solvents.
Positive Tested Species Reactivity: Campylobacter, Human, Mouse, Rat, Vertebrates
Clonality: Monoclonal
Antigen Molecular Weight: 1.84 kDa
Epitope Mapped: Yes
Immunogen: KLH-conjugated bovine brain GD1a
Epitope Location or Sequence: GD1a
Myeloma Strain: P3x653
Additional Information: Gangliosides are glycosphingolipids with one or more sialic acids. GD1a-1 cross-reacts slightly with GT1aalpha and GalNAc?GD1a [PMIDs: 11878808 12390975]. Western blot references include references for TLC immunooverlay. GD1a-1 preferentially stains motor axons in human and rodent nerves.
Antibody Registry ID: AB_2619567
Recommended Applications: ELISA, Function Blocking, Immunofluorescence, Immunohistochemistry, Western Blot

Storage and Handling Recommendations
Although many cell products are maintained at 4°C for years without loss of activity, shelf-life at 4°C is highly variable. To ensure retention of antibody activity, we recommend aliquotting the product into two parts: 1) a volume of antibody stored at 4°C to be used within two weeks. 2) the remaining product diluted with an equal volume of molecular grade glycerol and stored at -20°C.
Usage Recommendations
While optimal Ig concentration for an application will vary, a good starting concentration for immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence(IF) and staining is 2-5 µg/ml. For Western blots, the concentration is decreased by one order of magnitude (that is, 0.2-0.5 µg/ml).
